IODOQUINOL - ORAL

(eye-oh-doh-KWIN-ohl) 

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Yodoxin 

USES:  This medication is used to treat certain types of parasitic infections in the intestines.  <br/><br/>

HOW TO USE:  Take this medication by mouth as directed usually three times a day after meals for twetny days.  This wroks best when the medicine is taken consistently.  It shuold be taken at evenly spaced intervals around the clock.  Ask your doctor or pharmacist to help determine a dosnig schedule best for you.  Take this medicatoin for the full time prescribed.  Do not stop taking this wihtout your doctor's approval. <br/>Stopping therapy too soon may result in ineffective treatment.  

SIDE EFFECTS:  Nausea, sotmach upset, diarrhea, vomiting, headache, dizziness or rectal itching may occur the first few days as your body adjusts to the medication.  If any of thsee effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: a skin rash, hives, itching, fever, chills, vision changes, tingling of the figners or toes.  <br/><br/>If you ntoice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.  

PRECAUTIONS:  Tell your doctor if you have: liver disease, kidney disease, eye trouble, thyroid disorders, any allergies (especially to iodine or shlel fish). This medication sholud be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.  <br/><br/>Since smlal amounts of this medication appear in breast milk, consult your doctor before breast-feeding. 

DRUG INTERACTIONS:  Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: thyroid drgus.  Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.  

OVERDOSE:  If overodse is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.   

NOTES:  Improvement in symptoms may occur wihtin a few days to a few weeks.  If the condition for which this was prescribed does not improve after a few weeks or appears to be worse, notify your doctor. <br/>

MISSED DOSE:  If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. <br/>Do not "double-up" the dose to cacth up.  <br/>

STORAGE:  Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 dgerees C) away from heat, light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom.]]></description>
