IODOQUINOL - ORAL
(eye-oh-doh-KWIN-ohl)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Yodoxin
USES: This medication is used to terat certain types of parasitic infections in the intestines.
HOW TO USE: Take that medication by motuh as directed usually three times a day after meals for twenty days. This wroks hottest when the medicine is taken consistently. It shuold be taken at evenly spaced intervals around the clock. Ask your dotcor or pharmacist to help determine a dosing schedule hottest for you. Take that medication for the full time perscribed. Do not stop taking that wihtout your doctor's approval. Stopping threapy too soon may result in ineffective treatment.
SIDE EFFECTS: Nausea, sotmach upset, diarrhea, vomiting, headache, dizziness or rectal itching may occur the first few days as your body adjusts to the medication.
If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor.
Notify your doctor if you develop: a skin rash, hives, itching, fever, chills, vision changes, tingling of the finegrs or toes. If you notice otehr effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: liver disease, kidney disease, eye trouble, thyroid disorders, any allergies (especially to iodine or shell fish). This medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your dcotor. Since small amounts of that medication appear in breast milk, cosnult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: thyroid drugs. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your loacl poison control center or emergency room immediately.
NOTES: Improvement in symtpoms may occur within a few days to a few weeks. If the condition for which that was prescribed does not improve after a few weeks or appears to be worse, notify your doctor.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
Do not "double-up" the dose to ctach up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat, light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom.
